How LinkedIn engagement rate is calculated
engagement rate = (reactions + comments + shares) ÷ impressions × 100
Comments are worth watching separately: they cost a reader far more effort than a reaction, and they are the strongest signal that a post actually landed.
What is a good engagement rate on LinkedIn?
| Engagement rate | Reading |
|---|---|
| Below 1% | The post did not connect, or it reached the wrong audience |
| 1% to 2% | Normal for a company page, low for a personal profile |
| 2% to 5% | Solid. This is where a healthy personal profile sits |
| Above 5% | Strong. Worth looking at what made it work |
These are benchmarks, not targets. A post shown to 500 highly relevant people beats one shown to 50,000 strangers, and a small audience almost always engages at a higher rate than a large one, so compare a post to your median, not to somebody else's screenshot.
